Red got out to a fast start and had a commanding 10-3 run by the bottom off the 6th. Black maxed out its runs, getting the score down to 10-8. In the top of the 7th, Red scored 3 more runs. The bottom of the 7th saw Black getting blanked.
Two clever plays of the game caught this reviewer's attention. While subbing for Keith 'Crazy Eights' Moore, Robbie, 'Le Tour' Narejko was running on third for Black. As Le Tour feinted going to home, he tripped and was stranded on the base line. He made it safely back to third without drawing a throw from the catcher.
In the next inning, 'Smitty', of Red, kicked a ball in the out field, hoping to draw a Black runner into trying for an extra base. The tactic failed.
When interviewed after the game, Le Tour and Smitty both admitted to some on field chicanery, 'feinting' their miss-steps to gain an advantage. Goes to show you the mental side of baseball is never far from the minds of these wily veterans. ;)
