Thanks for your interest in the Burlington Intermediate Fastball League
Softball / hardball players will need some time to adjust to the pitching. But you can do it!
- many guys can help you with your swing, if you think you need it
- one guy usually goes out before each game and hit 50 to 100 wiffle balls off a tee - so you don't need to spend a fortune on batting cages
There are usually no official practices, but sometimes the guys get together to practice
The biggest challenge is the speed of play on the infield - much faster than hardball! I don't know how it compares to softball as I have never played. Again, people adjust as they get more experience
There are currently 4 teams in the League
There are 7 innings per game
- 16 regular season games plus every team makes the playoffs
Our Annual General Meeting will take place in October
- location and time TBD
Sign up is in March or April, play starts in late May, ends in late August
- there are no games on long weekends
- cost is $200 (approximately - there are discounts for early registration)
- see Registration in upper right hand corner
- subject to change
The League members are really good guys. Not all are really good ball players... kidding ;)
- you get to know many people
- the games are competitive (every one wants to win), but not at all costs
- every one hangs out afterwards in the park to exchange stories
- there are always a quite a few guys who will help out the new players and make them feel welcome
- most players are in their late 20s to early forties
- but there are some younger (teens) and older (mid-fifties)
- but they can all play and the level of competition is very good - not too easy, not too hard - its all relative
We use aluminum bats and guys wear steel or rubber cleats
- each team has its own jersey
- most guys wear baseball pants for sliding.
I will put your name on a 'to call list' for April if you submit the Contact Us info
- so we will send you an email re sign-up times, locations and forms (including your preferred position, level of experience etc...)
- sign-up may be in-person or on-line (see Registration in upper right hand corner)
- but also check the website so you can see when the sign-up will be (www.BIMFL.weebly.com)
